Melasma & Hyperpigmentation Treatment

AT THE MEDICAL INN CENTER

Blotches, irregular skin discoloration and dark spots with uneven edges - discoloration of the skin, known as melasma, is a common complaint of many women around the world. Although they can sometimes be mistaken for a sun tan, this is not a desirable condition, as these spots negatively affect an otherwise even facial skin.

What is melasma?

A melasma is a common form of hyperpigmentation, in the form of dark colored patches on the skin. These patches do not have a uniform shape or a regular border. The typical coloration ranges from a light to a dark brown, but can also be a shade of gray. Whatever the color, it is always different from the surrounding normal skin color.
Even though melasma does not pose a health risk, many sufferers find them disturbing and embarrassing, as they usually cannot be easily covered by makeup.
But it is no longer necessary to apply foundation and coverage. There are effective treatments for melasma and hyperpigmentation at MEDICAL INN center.

Chloasma

Sometimes a melasma is also called a chloasma. Cholasmas are a form of melasma that appear during pregnancy and disappear after birth, but can also remain. That is why cholasmas are also called "pregnancy mask".

Causes of melasma and chloasma

Although the reason is unknown, it is believed that the appearance of melasma and chloasma is due to the production of excess melanin. This excess production can be the result of several factors, such as hormones (e.g., estrogens and progesterone), genetics, malnutrition, sun exposure, and certain medications. Since sun exposure exacerbates the condition, it is important that those unhappy with skin discoloration protect the affected areas with a good sunblock.
Oddly enough, chloasma and melasma sometimes disappear after a while (after a few months).

Moles

Moles are concentrations of melanin in the skin that can be removed with a special laser treatment. They are small and darker than the rest of the skin and usually appear in areas that are often exposed to the sun: Face, shoulders and back of the hands.
Are moles, also known as age spots, caused by liver malfunction? Are they a sign of a weak liver? Let's clear up this old wives' tale.
The answer is no.
Liver spots are not related to the health of your liver. They are caused by other factors such as aging, sun exposure, and hormone fluctuations. So why do we call them moles? Well, doctors actually believed that they are caused by liver malfunction, but this turned out to be wrong.
