We strive to make your time with us before, during and after breast augmentation as pleasant as possible. Part of this is that you do not notice anything during the treatment itself. Therefore, we use a short general anesthesia for most procedures. Through a tiny incision around the areola or in the breast crease, we place the implant in the previously selected size. We use thin, self-decomposing sutures to close this incision. This will leave a scar that will be barely be visible after healing. After the breast surgery, we will take you to the recovery room. Saline implants are made from salt water and have been around for decades. Many plastic surgeons prefer implants made of cohesive silicone because they mimic the look and feel of a natural breast.

PLACEMENT OF THE BREAST IMPLANT

During the surgical breast augmentation, we don't just push the selected implant into the breasts. First, we create a pocket into which we can gently insert the implant. Basically, there are 2 possibilities of placement: in front of or behind the pectoral muscle. Depending on the placement, the result may be different. For many women, the desire to have firm and full breasts is very strong. However, there is one obstacle in the decision for or against it: the scar. Another option is an incision in the armpit (transaxillary incision). If you choose this option, you can be sure that there will be no visible scar in the breast area.

Do I lose sensation in my nipples after breast augmentation?

A change in sensitivity (increase or decrease) after breast augmentation is normal. The breast implants can also change sensitivity during breastfeeding and sex. This change goes away in most cases. However, if it is damage to the nerve, this change may be permanent - this is very rarely the case.

What can breast augmentation not achieve?

Breast augmentation is not designed to lift the breasts. These implants do little to lift the breasts. If you would like to lift your breasts a significant amount, we would probably rather advise a breast lift (mastopexy).

Are there non-surgical options for breast augmentation?

No creams, pills, massages or devices can increase breast size or correct imbalances. This can only be achieved through aesthetic surgery with implants or autologous fat. Certain life events can increase the size of the breasts, such as pregnancy, weight gain or taking birth control pills, but these should not be considered as an alternative for breast augmentation.

I don't want my breasts to look fake, how can I prevent that?

However, it is important to remember that the implants will stretch your skin a bit. If you have the implants removed in our clinic, your natural breast may look slightly different than before the breast augmentation. How soon after giving birth and breastfeeding can I have implants?

As a rule, you should allow at least 6 months after the end of breastfeeding to pass before breast augmentation. This is to ensure that the breast has developed back to its normal shape. It is important to do this in order for you to have a beautiful result in the long run.

Can I breastfeed with breast implants?

Studies have shown that silicone levels in women with breast implants are no higher than in women without implants. Many women have no problem breastfeeding with breast implants.

How long do the implants last?

Breast implants can stay in your body for your entire life and do not need to be replaced regularly. There may be reasons why women choose to have implants replaced or removed. For example, if their personal tastes or body changes. Replacement or removal is possible at any time in our clinic.

When can I wear an underwire bra?

About 3 months scar tissue will form around the breast implants. Therefore, the pressure of an underwire bra can cause a permanent indentation in the scar. Can I get breast implants even if I am over 50?

Is it best if I am at my ideal weight at the time of surgery?

It is recommended that you be about your ideal weight before surgery. Severe weight loss after breast augmentation may alter the results. Possible negative side effects of weight loss include ptosis (sagging breasts) or a decrease in breast volume. Significant weight gain can also negatively affect breast size and appearance.

Can I get stretch marks from breast implants?

This can happen, but it is very rare. You can minimize the stretching of your skin by choosing smaller implants.

Will pregnancy affect my breast augmentation?

If you are pregnant prior to breast augmentation, you should postpone the procedure until after you are done breastfeeding. If you become pregnant after breast augmentation, your breasts will naturally become larger. How big this change will be depends on your body as well as the implants used.

How safe are silicone implants?

"There is no proof that silicone implants are responsible for diseases to the whole body. Women are constantly exposed to silicone throughout their daily lives." Special studies from the Institute of Medicine have even shown that cow's milk and baby milk available for purchase have higher silicone content than milk from nursing mothers who have breast implants.

Will my breasts move naturally after augmentation?

This depends on a number of factors. For example, on the implant, how your body holds it, possible capsular contractions, and other factors.

Can I sunbathe after the healing process?

Of course. Going to a tanning salon or sunbathing will not harm breast implants. The implant may become a little warm when tanning and may cool down only slowly. However, we recommend shielding the incision area from direct sunlight for the first year after surgery. Sunbathing can permanently darken the scar.

When can I fly or dive again after breast augmentation?

Changes in pressure can cause the shells of the implants to expand or contract slightly. This may cause a few air bubbles to form, which may cause gurgling sounds. However, these will recede after 48 hours at the latest.

Is there a relationship between the incidence of breast cancer and breast implants?

Extensive research and studies have proven that plastic augmentation by implants does not increase the risk of breast cancer.

Can I have a mammogram despite having breast implants?

You can still have mammograms if you have breast implants. The implants do not distort the results. Your radiologist will simply use a different methodology.
