The main difference between liposuction and tummy tuck is that liposuction removes only the unwanted fat and does not correct skin or muscles.

Most often, liposuction is performed on both sides of the abdomen (flanks or hips). A tummy tuck corrects more the front of the abdominal area. This gives you a completely rejuvenated and contoured abdominal area.

Usually the healing process takes 2 weeks. The abdomen is involved in every movement you make. That is why the recovery takes a little longer. Most of our patients can return to work after about 2 weeks. During this time, it is important that you regularly disinfect the bandages and reliably wear the compression girdle. This should be worn for 6 weeks for best results.

As with all surgical procedures, the tummy tuck will leave a scar. A tummy tuck is usually an inpatient procedure, which means that you will need to stay in our clinic for 1-2 days.
Depending on the method of surgery, an outpatient procedure may also be possible, during which you will be in the clinic for 5-6 hours. At a personal appointment we can give you an exact information whether you can go home after the surgery or it would be safer to stay 1-2 days as an inpatient.

During the operation you will not feel any pain. We take care of that with the general anesthesia. As after any surgical procedure, pain is normal afterwards. To keep it to a minimum, we will provide you with pain medication that you can take at home. Our patients report that the pain is kept within limits and is less severe than they initially feared.

In the first period after the tummy tuck you should take it easy to support the healing process. Light workouts are possible about 6 weeks after the surgery, but without abdominal muscle training. You can resume the amount of sports you did before the surgery after about 3 months. Then also intensive exercises and also strength training are possible again.

Depending on the nature of their job, most patients return to work 2 weeks after surgery. Those who have a physically demanding job may need more time.
